History is littered with things found, admired, and still not fully understood.

The Anthikythera mechanism. The meaning of the Voynich manuscript and location of Jimmy Hoffa’s grave might never be fully resolved. In some ways the missing pieces make these enigmas even more enchanting. 

Release 001, dubbed “Liftoff” sets a high standard out the gate. We’re wheels up, and if you’re reading this, you’re getting a one way ticket to value town. Where the town is like Dubai and the value is a $99/night penthouse suite.

After tasting dozens of samples, we found two clear standouts. We needed something special. Something flirting with perfection.

And I think that’s what we have.

I know there’s a lot of waxing poetic about a wine. Superlatives thrown around.

But damn, this stuff is good. And honestly, it’s worth every penny at its $165+ release price. We can’t tell you exactly where it comes from, but here’s what we can publicly say…

We plucked four barrels straight from one of the pre-eminent family wineries on Howell Mountain. Where the wines routinely score 97+ points, and fetch upward of $195+ per bottle.

While it carries a “Napa Valley” designation, fruit comes entirely from one legendary vineyard near the base of Howell Mountain. A pre-prohibition era hillside site, planted in the 1880s, where the eastern slopes offer a little respite from the warm days and create a perfect pocket to nestle Cabernet into a heavyweight knockout.

Raised in 40% new, medium-toast French oak, it has massive structure, grippy mountain tannins, and seriously deep and dark core of black fruit. Spices and violets, with You could, in theory, drink this now. But patience will reward on this release. For those who want more immediate gratification, our second release will offer more of that lush, forward, open-knit and hedonistic style.

And before you decide, consider some of the stiff competition it beat out.

Three samples came from a newer project. Those wines were fantastic. They score near perfect every year, and taste expensive because they are – $799 gets you a three pack.

Another few samples from one of our favorite winemakers, MK, nearly made the cut. In fact, one in particular we loved so much, made it a tough call. He later texted confirming our “good tastes – that was my finest one from a block in REDACTED vineyard”. 

Still, we felt Release 001 and 002 were better.

And the value is quite simply off the meter.
