Summer is knocking. You can’t be slamming those heavy reds all day long. Any responsible and prepared wine drinker needs to have an eminently crushable Sauv Blanc within arm’s reach at all times. Oh we’re 65 days away still? Well it’s “National Glazed Spiral Ham Day” today. You know what goes great with a glazed spiral ham?

And tomorrow, on National Wear Pajamas to Work Day? PJs and SBs works just like like PB and Js. Perfect together. Better yet, skip work, stay in bed and binge some Netflix with a few glasses.

I can find you an excuse today or any of the other 65 days until Summer. But it’s a basic fact: you’ll need a proper porch pounder within arm’s reach at any given moment. And this is the very definition of the triple P Savvy B. I’ll have it on the ready anytime the sun is shining from now until it’s gone.

Maybe it wasn’t fair to call this a “Rough Diamond”. The starting products wasn’t all that rough. But the finished product here is a laser sharp, polished and fruit-driven Napa Valley SB. And the value is crystal clear given the starting point of around $45 from the source’s own comparison.

I don’t know exactly what he did. But I imagine a montage of Bobby like Master Splinter taking this able-bodied SB up through the 36th Chamber with some combination of sutras and pipettes, graduated cylinders and cold stabilization. 

Sourced from 100% estate fruit, this comes from a legendary family up in Calistoga. That gorgeous citrine color gives way to lush and tropical flavors. With just-ripened pineapple, a little papaya, some white summer peach and a zippy lemongrass note. Honeysuckle and a sweet whisper of spring herbs? Check ‘em off. Straight up yummy stuff.

The bad news? We have less of this than most. Just 45 cases! But don’t fear - this is actually the first of TWO Sauv Blancs we have bottled. This being the pure, traditional, California-sunshiny kind and the next one taking a page from the Bordeaux Blanc stylebook.
